GianTheo is a very interesting two-man project from the distinct Italian scene. GianTheo is made up of Giancarlo Prandelli and Matteo Sainaghi, combining the former’s musical talent with the latter’s lyrics and vision in a result where deep, inspired pop music burgeons.
Giancarlo Prandelli is a highly demanded producer and session musician who has worked with renowned artists during his years of experience. He has developed sought-after facets for stars like star Laura Pausini, legendary singer Mina, and music veterans Omar Pedrini and Fausto Leali, to name a few.
Matteo Sainagh, known as Theo, is an athlete with a degree in Physiotherapy and Motor Sciences. He started writing rap around the late 80s, all because of his interest in the possibilities of rhythm, flow, and word expression that the hip-hop genre offered. In recent times, Sainaghi has become best known for being the president and the creative head of GDM. He also published the book “Motor Intelligence,” displaying all his influences beyond music.
Giantheo has returned with a resounding single that demonstrates dedication to the family. “Tommy al Lunapark” showcases the world of a typical 9-year-old, Tommaso, son of Theo. Bracing the song is a great music video, which Mauro Cartapani directed.
Production-wise, “Tommy al Lunapark” is sharp, slick, and poppy. The light percussion starts right in with the bubbling electronic beat, setting an inviting tempo that gets one in the mood to get up and move.
The vocals have the slightest auto-tune effect, making the low range smooth and lush, though without becoming full-on fake. The harmony of the track works well with this and gives it a modern sheen. The instrumentation is such: with glistening synth pads that provide a rich, cinematic background over which the different instruments shine; bouncy piano riffs and bright guitar licks get bouncy with a harmonious hook.
It’s more of a dance-floor-oriented beat, not overly so, of course, but it comes with just the right amount of low-end bumps and percussion hits that will make you go all wiggly. The perfect balance between pop accessibility and dancefloor energy.
“Tommy al Lunapark” is an example of modern pop: the song is made for everyone, from the cozy generation to the hipsters. Everything matches flawlessly, and all components are rightfully in place to cause the greatest harmonious and rhythmic effect.
I want to say many thanks to GianTheo for this amazing new single, “Tommy al Lunapark.” Being a lover of all things significant and new in music, I’m always on the lookout for feel-good tracks that bring back a sense of melodic sensibility. This tune right here hit all the criteria when I checked it out, and I am very glad that I did. I’ll be digging into their rich back catalog, looking forward to what Giantheo dreams up next. I highly recommend listening to Giantheo’s “Tommy al Lunapark” for yourself. Reading further into the background of Giantheo and how they created their sound solidified their purpose in singing songs about their experiences.
