The outstanding songwriting pair Eric Anders and Mark O’Bitz have released two new Remix EPs, “Bardo Hauntings I: Butler Remixes.” and “Bardo Hauntings ll: Butler Remixes.” Today we’ll be talking about the first ep, which is a compilation of remixes only containing six songs in total. This EP is truly magnificent, with each single having its own unique character!
“Won’t Live It Down (Butler Remix)” opens the EP with powerful synths bassline and drums followed by a very fierce electronic vibe, with the vocals slipping in between, making the first track a really well-placed opener single. The second track, “Matterbloomlight (Butler Remix),” begins with the lead singer’s charismatic voice, accompanied by rhythmic drum rhythms, indian-like beat arrangements, and backing vocals making this whole track luxurious.
On the third track, “And One Love (Butler Remix),” a grungy electronic beat over a vintage electronic composition combined with vocal harmonies to create a beautiful sound art piece.
Followed by “Bury Me”, a must-listen with a slow pace and emotional arrangement, the lyrics are wonderful and thoughtful making this song lighthearted and elegant; a lovely tune that will stay stuck in your head for a long time.
“Holding well” is a magnificent composition with an imaginative uplifting tone and a pleasant strings ensemble, as well as a lot of classic electronic sound. The inventive approach gives the song a fresh and cheerful attitude.
Finally, the record concludes with “Judgment Day.” With a darker tone and heavier bass, and slower-paced chord progressions, the song fully encapsulates the sentiments of the concept. Making it an outstanding ending to this excellent EP.
